报告内容概要:

The Soft Open Point (SOP) is an emerging power electronic device for active power flow control, reactive power compensation and post-fault service restoration in power distribution networks, which can be installed in place of normally open points (NOPs)/tie switches to achieve flexible connection between feeders in a distribution network. Traditional tie switches react slowly as they operate using mechanical mechanisms, while SOPs as fully controlled power electronic devices can react much quickly to control commands. A SOP-connected system enjoys benefits of both radial and mesh distribution networks while avoids their downsides, leading to more reliable system operations, and this is particularly important to renewable-rich distribution networks with high penetration of renewables, such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind distributed generation (DG) units. In this presentation, a novel two-stage multi-scenario optimization method for SOP placement and sizing is presented to minimize power losses and active power curtailment of DGs in distribution networks; and a novel two-stage SOP-based service restoration method in distribution networks is also presented.

报告人简介:

Prof. Xiaodong Liang received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2013. From 1995 to 1999, she served as a lecturer at Northeastern University, Shenyang, China. In October 2001, she joined Schlumberger (SLB) in Edmonton, Canada, and was promoted to Principal Power Systems Engineer with this world’s leading oilfield services company in 2009; she worked with Schlumberger for almost 12 years until August 2013. From 2013 to 2019, she was with Washington State University in Vancouver, WA, United States and Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL, Canada as an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor. In July 2019, she joined the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, where she is currently a Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Technology Solutions for Energy Security in Remote, Northern, and Indigenous Communities. Dr. Liang has published more than 280 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. She is a Fellow of IET, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
